Hello parents:
We are quickly approaching the ending of the school year. I would like to personally thank all of you for your support in making this year what it has been. I enjoy teaching and learning. In the upcoming weeks, please be mindful of several projects and activities that will occur:
Students will create a poetry book that will be due on
Students have a science project, which requires them to write a narrative about an assigned system. Students will write the poem for related reading within my class on next Thursday. This information will be graded twice, one for science for accuracy of information and one for English on the presentation and style chosen.
Students in AP English are required to obtain The Pearl by John Steinbeck by
Finally, students need to be reminded of their behavior and grades. It is my goal to see all of my students succeed. We must work closely together the remaining five weeks of schooling to ensure this happens.

Parents and students:
Project was assigned on last week to conclude our reading of “Zebra.” The instructions were given to students via a PowerPoint presentation. Here is the information needed to assist students in being successful on the assignment:
Memorials are recreate to remember times, individuals, or things within one’s lifetime. I would like for each student to create a memorial of something, someone, an event, or place that will create a physical memory of a joyful time within his or her life. Some examples could be gifts from relatives that are not in physical reach, events that brought the family together, memorable moments within the students’ life, or a collage of pictures from a place that provided loving thoughts. Use the information and create an attractive presentation with one paragraph explaining why the memory is worthy of creating a memorial.
The final date for accepting projects will be October 21, 2009

Parents and students,
During class for the past week, we have discussed ARMT skills: fact/opinion, figurative language (simile and metaphor), and main idea. Students will be tested on those skills and the article, " Message of Hope" from Time Magazine on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009. Students will obtain a review on the information in class on Friday. In addition, students will take an end of the month assessment on all learned skills, schedule for Sept. 30. This assessment will occur every month until the end of the school term.
Radio Project: Due to many technical issues, the project has been postponed until all issues can be worked out and all students have access to needed materials. Please remain posted for updates. Lesson plans have been placed into STI for this past week and will be upload by 9/27. I will try to make sure that they are post on the website.
Thank you for all that you do.
